re December issue “Justify those claims”

Although implying altruism, the motives for Mr Marshall’s letter in your December issue were purely commercial.

JLA obtained ‘Type A’ approval of the Ipso range on 10 March 1999 some three months before the Water Regulations were implemented.

In the twenty one months since that date there have been three issues of the WRAS handbook, which is the authoritative reference for such matters. The latest edition became available on 27 November 2000 and only in that edition are there machines other than JLA’s. Until that date JLA had the only machines listed and approved.

To quote Mr Marshall, “...in the interest of providing your readers with up-to-date and accurate information”.. further facts are: JLA do dominate the care market, with 12 of the quoted and largest care-home groups using JLA equipment. These alone account for more than 61 000 beds. Thousands of other independent owners choose JLA. Like the groups, they choose what they believe to be the best.

ADC, which is the largest manufacturer of commercial dryers in the world, has JLA as its largest distributor outside the USA.
