Following significant investment into product development, Tonrose has launched One Wash to specifically address the perennial problem of cracked-ice creasing. Caused by residual sizing set into the textiles, cracked-ice creasing is costing businesses time and money.

According to Paul Haden, MD of Tonrose, cheaper alternatives for towelling, bed and table linens can seem like a savvy solution to save money, and it would be easy to think that guests wouldn’t notice these simple changes. But a recent PwC consumer report on hotel loyalty shows that these amenities are precisely what guests value most, and such cutbacks could actually be hurting bookings and reputation.

Some customers have made this mistake in the past, downgrading their linens in an attempt to save money, says Haden. “But they have found that cheaper alternatives are often a ‘false economy’ – guest satisfaction plummets, and so client complaints soar.

“Quality is everything in ensuring the products are up to the intense processing of the laundry lifecycle – from the quality of the raw ingredients, through to the structure of the weave itself.

“That’s why we work closely with our partner mills, to ensure our high standards are maintained, giving clients and their customers exactly what they want.”

 “Hotels are looking to give guests the perfect experience as they chase repeat bookings and positive reviews. Flawless bed linens are an essential part of this,” says Tonrose head of new product development Paul White.

“But laundries are under increasing pressure to turn around the linens and with ever-shrinking margins. Fewer rejections from inferior quality and poor appearance avoids needless lost revenue.”

Proven to remove warp sizing after only a single wash, the One Wash range is proving very popular across the industry.

As part of the development process, the product underwent robust wash trials. Leading commercial laundry Bates took part in the trials and were very positive about the results, “We were delighted to be involved in testing this innovative new product,” said Matthew Pantlin, Bates MD.

“Cotton rich bed linen is a popular choice for many of our customers so we were intrigued at how we could service this need with the One Wash bed linen.

“We were really impressed with the outcome. Sizing was removed after only a single wash and there are obvious potentials to save water and energy consumption, and the whole process was more efficient. Most importantly though, the end result was smooth bed linen, free from creases.”

“Our Ultima 70/30 cotton rich One Wash range has been welcomed by our customer base as they strive to reduce rejection rates,” says White.

“We’re already working on new ranges where we can introduce the One Wash technology and we’re sure they will receive an even greater response when launched later in the year.”
