With Britain's decision to leave the European Union confirmed after last Thursday's referendum, the UK Fashion & Textile Association will be urgently speaking to the government on behalf of the industry to ensure new adequate trade agreements are negotiated with both the EU and non-EU countries including the US, India, China, Japan and Australia, as well as assess the knock-on effect on prices, consumer confidence and free movement of talent.
In a statement by the UKFT's CEO Adam Mansell, he said that UKFT would ensure members are kept updated on issues arising from this decision. "We will be working with other associations to ensure a unified industry voice."
At the Textile Services Association, campaign and communications leader Gillian Farrar said that the country and world will be going through some uncertainty as leaders negotiate the new landscape and added that the TSA would keep members up to date with the information
The TSA's political consultant, Darryl Howe, will be commenting on the fallout in the summer Issue of the TSA's Advisor magazine coming out mid-July.
Later this year, TSA employment specialists, Robin Rhodes and Croner Consulting will be talking about the issues at the Special Interest Group meeting on 28 September at Chesford Grange, and the Confederation of British Industry will discussing the affects of the referendum at the TSA National Conference on 11 November at the Dalmahoy in Edinburgh.
