Lapauw’s open day at the company HQ in Kortrijk, Belgium which takes place over 26-28 April saw the first day attract distributors and customers from India, Brazil, Japan, Korea and within the EU.

For many it was the first chance to see first-hand Lapauw’s first venture into tunnel washer manufacturing with its TRANSFlex tunnel washer solution, announced at CLEAN 2017.

According to Lapauw CEO Philippe D’hygere: “The advantages of this bottom transfer tunnel washer over competitor’s models is its small footprint along with simplicity of operation and easy maintenance due to designed-in accessibility to key areas of the machine.” Despite its small footprint with an internal diameter of 1,807mm, the drum is one of the largest on offer.

A complete working set-up of Lapauw’s tunnel washer solution is on show, including press (up to 56 bar pressure), shuttle, dryers, conveyor system and, also in the line-up the C1206 top loading washer extractor.

Visitors can also inspect Lapauw’s cleanroom solution comprising the two-compartment Mediwash barrier washer with anti-bacterial cladding paired with the Medistream cleanroom dryer.

In ironing, the IronMAX has had a new chest design and parallel oil flow pattern offering consistent heat thought the process, which says Petr Jirutka, CEO of Czech Republic affiliate Lapauw CEE, sets a new pattern in iron efficiency.

Also being put through its paces, as well as developments in feeding technology (UNIX -3-4 stations, 1-2 lanes and up to 1800 items per hour manual feeding) and folding (UNIfold) is the Hot Stream tunnel finisher solution, gas- or steam-heated and available as Mono (items/hour 1000) or Duo (2000 items/hour). “The accompanying endless chain conveyor system transports garments shoulder to shoulder for a superior finish in the tunnel,” says Jirutka.
