Christeyns opens a new production plant in Brazil

BRAZIL

Belgian chemicals company Christeyns opened a new production plant in Cosmópolis, Brazil, on 5 June, the 14th plant in the Christeyns Govi Group. A logical consequence of the organic growth that the chemicals company is achieving, this new 3 million euro production unit is designed to enable the Bostoen family business to access new sales markets and areas.

“Christeyns was trading under its own name in Brazil since 2011. If you want to conquer the world, you cannot ignore this huge country with over 200 million residents,” said managing director Jeff Wittouck. “In the regions of both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, we have already gained a market share of 15%. As the potential of textile care is so large and the markets of services such as hygienic cleaning in the Brazilian food & beverage sector were completely unexplored, we were confronted with a need to expand production capacity.”

The Cosmópolis site is only about 100 kilometres outside São Paolo, the largest urban agglomeration on the entire American continent, and there enough space for future expansion if needed. Initially, the plant is intended for the production of detergents, laundry softeners and disinfection agents for textile care, the food and beverage industry and the institutional market. It also allows for manufacturing Oscrete products for the construction industry, a segment that shows rapid growth.

The new production site currently employs twenty people and maximum capacity currently amounts to 400 tons per month per shift.
