Hospital laundry wins tender

1 October 2001

The in-house laundry at Nottingham City Hospital has beaten three private companies to win the hospital’s laundry contract.

The contract was put out to tender last year when the hospital was forced to close its laundry after losing contracts with other hospitals. The in-house team will run the linen service for three years.

Smaller building

As part of its proposal the laundry will move to a smaller building on the hospital site. The current campus centre site has been earmarked for a new operating theatre in the hospital’s redevelopment plans.

Hospital chief executive Gerry McSorley commented: “The in-house team is to be congratulated on its success, we are all really delighted for them.

“They faced tough competition from established companies and they put forward a very professional proposal, which balanced price with quality of service.

“All the staff have worked extremely hard under very difficult circumstances throughout these months of uncertainty.”
