The Kannegiesser Expo 2018 held last week in a stadium near the company’s headquarters in Vlotho, Germany, showcased the company’s integrated laundry solutions, whereby machinery, technology and software are combined, helping to make operations more competitive in a tough market.

The Smart laundry of today – and the future – according to Kannegiesser, which displayed its wares to an invited global audience under the banner ‘The future of the laundry needs fresh inspirations’, coordinates technology to match its customers’ needs.

According to Kannegiesser, to be able to serve all the market segments, where the variety of articles is increasing as well as logistic costs, the answer is growing productivity and efficiency of companies and implementation of appropriate new and holistic technologies.

Kannegiesser now offers the first steps of robotisation for laundries in which it has invested a substantial amount of resources and R&D time. Robotics are a necessity for automation of laundry processes as it becomes increasingly difficult to recruit affordable labour, said the company.

Additionally, across washing, extraction, drying and finishing, explains the company, seamless integration of machines means no machine has to wait for another one to catch up as advanced software enables the machines to communicate with one another and independently optimise the complete process from area to area.

LCNi will be publishing a full report on the latest advances at Kannegeisser EXPO 2018 and visitors to EXPOdetergo 2018 in Milan in October will be able to catch up with developments there. In the meantime, the company continues to go from strength to strength.

Going forward, Martin Kannegiesser, the foundation’s chairman, will now concentrate essentially on fundamental and strategic questions and has named Engelbert Heinz as CEO. Heinz has been with Kannegiesser for 30 years and will continue for the most part to fill Martin Kannegiesser’s previous role.

Martin Kannegiesser’s daughter, Tina Kannegiesser, is assistant chairman of the foundation and takes care of the permanent support and integration of the subsidiaries.

“The opportunities and possibilities for the textile services sector have to be estimated highly and therefore there will be plenty of new product ideas and service packages from Kannegiesser. To ensure this, our customers’ horizons in the laundry industry are constantly reviewed and analysed in partnership with them,” said Martin Kannegiesser.
