LCN Awards 2017: Entries closed in a midnight sprint for the line

2 August 2017

UK

Midnight last night was the cut off for submissions to the LCN Awards 2017 and people went right up to the wire to get their entries in.

The second year of the LCN Awards has proved the event is a big winner with readers of LCN. LCN’s publishing director and event organiser Chris Milton said: “I am  overwhelmed by the fantastic and high quality  response that this year’s contest has generated. The number of entries is beyond anything I had anticipated. I would like to thank the many operators who have responded so enthusiastically - laundries and drycleaners alike. I would also like to thank our sponsors and supporters for their generous encouragement.”

As the entries are being collated for the judging process, LCN can announce that Dr Geert Bottger, a long time industry expert, consultant and journalist and also a CINET liaison officer for German speaking countries, will be joining the panel.

As well as Dr Bottger the panel comprises:

• Ken Cupitt, FGCL, The Guild of Cleaners & Launderers, Chairman of Council & Examination Board;

• Lynn Fort, MHLM, Linen Services Manager at Royal Blackburn Hospital and National Secretary of The Society of Hospital Linen Services and Laundry Managers;

• Howard Bradley, proprietor of long-established Bradley's Drycleaners of Milton Keynes and a specialist in the cleaning and refurbishment of historic and current military uniforms;

• John Shonfeld, Past Master, The Worshipful Company of Launderers, former TSA President, founder of the Tibard workwear brand and a laundry operator.

The ultimate winners will be put forward for selection in the CINET Global Best Practice Awards 2018 at Detergo in Milan next year. CINET will arrange free travel and accommodation for the lucky winners who will get a chance to prove to  a global audience just why they are the best of the best in the UK.
