Sunlight snaps up Salop Workwear

11 May 2006

Martin Roberts, human resources director at Sunlight, said the Salop operation would complement Sunlight’s existing workwear division (healthcare and linen rental being the others). “We’re not envisaging any changes”, Roberts said. The existing workforce at the Shrewsbury factory will remain, and management will report to regional director for workwear Chris Gillard.

Salop Workwear has grown from a domestic laundry in 1888 to a company specialising in all aspects of workwear, dust control mats and towel hire.

Salop Workwear has a specialist fabric garment division for the fashion and leisurewear market, and also supplies garments made of specialist fabrics for PPE performance such as the fire service.

The company relocated in 1996 moving from its original mill building to its present premises three miles away.
