A further six US utility companies have said that they are offering financial rewards to customers adopting the Xeros energy- and water-saving polymer bead based laundering system.

The incentives are being offered under the Federal Energy Management's Energy Incentive Program, which rewards users of cleaning technologies for meeting specific, pre-determined energy saving targets.

The announcement is another boost to Xeros' prospects in the USA. The National Grid and Liberty Utilities already offer incentives to Xeros customers and they are now joined by Columbia Gas of Massachusetts, Connecticut Natural Gas, PG&E, Questar Gas, Southwest Gas, and Xcel Energy.

The eight organisations offer a combined total of more than $275,000 in customer incentives for using Xeros technology.
