Kerlogue Nursing Home in Wexford Town, Republic of Ireland, is a purpose-built 90 bed nursing home over two floors that has been providing high quality care to the people of County Wexford for more than 20 years. It is a large nursing home and a significant local employer with 125 highly qualified staff delivering the very best standard of care to its residents.
The home recently needed to source a new washing machine to ensure a continual supply of fresh linen for residents. After carrying out their own research into the variety of products available in the market. Joe Kelly, owner of Kerlogue Nursing Home, determined that the best product to meet their needs would be the Little Giant PW6241 24kg Miele washing machine. “We made sure that we did a full review of what was available in the market because we wanted to ensure that we were putting the best possible equipment into our laundry, especially with hygiene being such a priority in care homes since Covid-19.”
The Miele machine has some features that have made it particularly suitable for nursing home care. Its large drum can accommodate much larger loads than its smaller counterparts but still with fantastic efficiency at its core – this machine is low on both water and energy consumption helping to keep running costs low. The PW6241 also offers hygiene programmes to ensure that products are hygienically cleaned according to the specifications set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The staff at Kerlouge Nursing Home find the new equipment simple to use with its easy programmes and load optimising software. “It’s important that our staff don’t really need to think too much about the laundry – they can just load and press go,” comments Joe. “The Miele equipment allows us to do this with the reassurance that the laundry will be hygienically clean and free from infection when it is finished.”
The installation of the equipment was carried out without a hitch by the Miele team. “The whole service from start to finish has been great,” said Joe. “I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Miele to other nursing and residential homes in the area. The after sales support we have received has been second to none. The service engineers that we have worked with are, as far as I am concerned, some of the very best in the business.”
