California is currently experiencing one of the worst droughts on record and as a result the state has passed mandatory restrictions on water use and expects businesses to cut consumption by 20% or face stiff penalties.
Hotel laundries have become a key target for water conservation, since these are said the represent 20% of overall water usage.
Xeros, the developer of polymer-bead based cleaning, has therefore been working to introduce its water saving system to hotel and hospitality sectors and to date five businesses have installed the system.
These include the Hilton Universal, Quality Inn Petaluma, Fairfield Inn Sebastopol, Stanford Park Hotel and The California Athletic Club. By installing the Xeros system these businesses aim to reduce water use in their laundries by up to 80%.
