Bucking the trend

23 March 2023

Learning how others run their businesses and taking lessons from their operations could be the key to survival in tough times.

It was pretty tough for drycleaners before Covid and it is even tougher now. The post-Christmas months of January and February are always depressing months for cleaners but in 2023 things seem to be in an even bigger trough. LCNi has heard from both operators and suppliers that business for some, not all (the more successful area is mostly top-end) was up to 60% down on last year’s comparable figures. Which were not wonderful, to say the least.

However, with a bit of diversifi cation, being open to new ideas and embracing the current zeitgeist for greener operations, it is possible to buck the downward trend. We look at two very different businesses in the USA and the Channel Islands and fl ag up an upcoming opportunity to catch up with some expert speakers on drycleaning in Texas this year.
