Excellence abounds at Milan’s best practice showcase

The standard for the Cinet Global Best Practices Awards 2022 was sky-high, making the jury’s job very difficult indeed


There was plenty of recogniton for best practice in the textile care industry as a truly global selection of finalists strutted their stuff in front of the jury in Milan. An international selection of independent Professional Textile Care (PTC) experts, chaired by Geert Boettger for the fifth consecutive occasion, determined the winners of Cinet’s Global Best Practices Awards Program 2022. After an inspiring day judging 46 individual pitches from GBPAP finalists in three categories, Industrial Textile Services (ITS) • Retail Textile Cleaning (SME) • Retail Textile Cleaning (Big), the winners were chosen in good time for the Awards ceremony in the evening of 21 October at EXPODetergo.

“Some 300 attendees were there in person to witness the event while thousands of followers world-wide watched online,” reported Cinet. Jury members were not allowed to vote for contestants from their own countries.

  • The RTC SME award was for Jan’s Cleaners, USA
  • In RTC Big, Oxwash from the United Kingdom was selected to be the winner
  • Lavans from The Netherlands was judged the best in the ITS category.
  • The Overall Champion for the proceedings was Oxwash.

Awards of Excellence for Entrepreneurship were presented to:

  • Karl Chahade from KCDC, Australia
  • Jan Barlow from Jan’s Professional DC, USA
  • Yoboue Celestin from Buanderies Modernes, Ivory Coast
  • Sarah and Kashif Sheikh from Elite Cleaners, UK
  • Stefano Pierotti from the • Pierotti Network, Italy
  • Gaurav Nigam from TumbleDry, India

Young Entrepreneurs Awards went to:

  • Ariana Basseri, Steamer Cleaners, USA
  • Daniel Shepherd, Cando Laundry, United Kingdom
  • Tom Mahaut, Wosh, Belgium
  • Eric Liu, Hibest PR, China

Sustainability and Innovation Awards were also presented to those finalists that hit the highest scores in these areas.

  • The Innovation Award ITS went to Cando Laundry Services, UK
  • Innovation Award RTC-SME was presented to Premier Dry Cleaners, Canada
  • Sustainability Award RTC-Sme went to Akuratti, Moldavia
  • Innovation Award RTC-Big was carried off Washmen Laundry LLC, UAE
  • Sustainability Award RTC-Big went to KIMS, Ukraine

After all the points from the international jury were counted, the highest scores, taking into account all categories, country winners were also named at the ceremony and invited to represent their nation on stage at the event and carry their national flag and entrepreneurial spirit forward.


LIFETIME ACHIEVER

The Lifetime Award was presented on behalf of the Cinet Board by Chris Tebbs to his old friend and industry legend Ken Cupitt (pictured, right) from the UK’s Guild of Cleaners & Launderers for his long and extraordinary contribution to the international PTC industry. For the Guild, The Worshipful Company of Launderers (WCL), Cinet and many others, Ken is valued for his leadership skills and dedication to sharing his knowledge and experience, as well as his tireless efforts to enable the Guild stay relevant. Ken Cupitt continues to provide education, information and support services to the Professional Textile Care Industry in the UK and abroad.
