Job overview

Based at the Royal Oldham Hospital the post holder will manage the in-house industrial Laundry Service & Transport Service, group wide and oversee the Royal Oldham Switchboard.

The Job holder will take the lead for these services and provide advice and support to the General Technical Lead Manager.


Main duties of the job

  • To provide leadership to Laundry Services, Sewing Room Services and Transport Services at Fairfield General, Royal Oldham Hospital, Salford Royal Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary and to the Switchboard at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
  • To provide support for the General Manager Estates and Facilities Group Technical Lead in the management of the Directorate.
  • Ensure that all services under managerial control offer value for money for the Trust and continually review services to maintain such efficiencies.
  • Responsible as Operator License holder for the regulatory compliance and maintenance of all Trust vehicles
  • Working with a dedicated team of professional managers within each speciality and alongside similar senior managers within other Estates & Facilities Disciplines this post offers the ability to experience a broad range of NHS services and training opportunities.
  • Being an NHS organisation the post holder will also be able to join the NHS pension scheme and be employed on Agenda for Change Terms & Conditions including up to 33 days annual leave per annum plus Bank Holidays.

St Jude’s Laundry, part of the Forth Sector Group (part of the Shaw Trust Group) is a commercial laundry in Edinburgh founded by Capability Scotland in 1963. A Royal Warrant Holder since 1985, the business provides a high-quality hand-finished laundry service to the hospitality sector and discerning customers. Our laundry operates as a supported business and is staffed by individuals with mental health, physical or learning difficulties.

We are a company who pride ourselves on our standards and professionalism within the hospitality industry, and are recruiting for a Laundry Manager to lead and manage our Laundry.

You will be responsible for continuing the success of our daily business practices and ushering in a new era of growth at St Jude’s. You will manage the day-to-day running of the Laundry and customer operations, including delivery against the business plan and compliance with the regulatory compliance and health and safety. In addition, you will lead and motivate the team, creating and maintaining a climate of inclusion, trust, and productivity, and will be committed to the promotion of a supportive working environment for colleagues.

Essential expertise:

  • Extensive experience of day-to-day laundry management.
  • Experience of production planning and management.
  • Experience of staff management.
  • Knowledge of the hospitality sector.
  • IOSH “Managing Safely” or equivalent, or be prepared to work toward achieving this accreditation.
  • Good working knowledge of the requirements of The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly the use of Microsoft Office packages to produce reports, process documentation and correspondence.

The Linen Group have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Senior Multi Skilled Engineer. As a Multi Skilled Engineer, you will work collaboratively with the management team, providing support in investigating means of improving plant productivity and also investigating and establishing causes for all breakdowns and damages. You’ll action any repairs and ensure that all measures taken are recorded so recurrent faults can be recognised and you will be involved in electrical and mechanical proactive and re-active maintenance. You will also be required to work with the fitting of new services for water, air and steam for new equipment and to repair old. Experience on boiler and compressor maintenance is an advantage.

You need to be qualified to NVQ / BTEC level 3 - mechanical/electrical, with a proven track record in an engineering and fault finding role gained. You’ll also have a minimum of IEE qualification up to 18th Edition.

Location: Manchester M22
Working days: Monday - Friday. 7.30am - 4.30pm
Salary £30,000 to £38,000 (DOE)

We are looking for a Head Engineer who will be responsible for all plant & equipment maintenance on our 2 production sites and 10 shops

You will be responsible to maintain washing machines,dryers, dry cleaning machines large commercial ironers, folding and packing machines. In addition, you will oversee the facilities management of the buildings with two other engineers. You will organise your engineers and external contractors to ensure that the plant and equipment is available to meet the demanding production schedule. Previous experience in a similar lead role is required.
