JET Expo: looking at environment, services and new technologies

7 May 2019

FRANCE

Environment, services and new technologies are key issues as JET Expo brings together all those working in the textile care sector at Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles (Hall 7.1), on 19 – 21 May. This eighth show will host around sixty exhibitors focussing on the main areas of this industry: drycleaning, laundrettes, laundries, rental/cleaning of textile articles, on-demand services, hospitals, community health centres, hotels and restaurants, concierge serves and local authorities.

European manufacturers of solvents and laundry detergents, such as Kreussler, Christeyns, Seitz and Ecolab, all of whom are attending the show, are in the process of developing lines of eco-friendly detergents without chlorine bleach or phosphates for wetcleaning, and solvents other than perchloroethylene for drycleaning.

Limits on solvents have also helped to foster development of innovative technologies such as supercritical CO2, used for technical textiles. This method makes it possible to clean and disinfect at just 31C and 74 bar. There is also the use of ozone for washing. The Ozone Boxes installed at some drycleaners, like HC Project and Cleancasc, who will be attending the show, allow considerable savings in consumption of water, electricity and chemicals.

The phenomenon of the gig economy, which has an impact on many sectors of business, has not spared the world of dry cleaning, which is by its very nature, geared towards service. The advent of digital marketplaces acting as intermediaries now makes it possible to respond to new customer requirements

The JET Expo exhibition is holding a wealth of lectures on these topics during the Texcare Forum on 20 and 21 May, as part of a specially designed programme, featuring how to care for tomorrow’s fabrics, the current situation in the drycleaning branch, existing challenges, the outlook for the future, IoT-connected laundries: optimising through automation and digitalisation, digitalisation of drycleaning and on-demand services, new solvents and laundry detergents.

JET Expo is part of Messe Frankfurt’s group of international trade fairs that are dedicated to textile care, including in particular Texcare International, Clean Show, Gulf Laundrex, Texcare Asia and China Laundry Expo.
