The professional division of Miele has announced the launch of a new smart technology app to streamline and revolutionise the use of laundry operations within communal laundry sites in the UK. Miele’s appWash will allow users living in student accommodation, holiday parks or residential complexes to reserve washing machines and dryers online and pay for use without the need for cash.

An innovative service created by Miele Operations and Payment Solutions, appWash connects the entire laundry room through an all-in-one digital platform, making life easier for laundry operators.

Laundry operators and their customers can download the app free of charge on both IOS and Android platforms.

The convenient and cashless payment function of appWash PAY means that facilities managers and laundry operators will receive digital invoices from registered users, significantly reducing administration costs.

The appWash PAY also eliminates the maintenance of the cashier system as it gives the operator full transparency over all washing and drying equipment, enabling them to check which machines are in operation and the cost of each cycle.

The online personal portal within the app conveniently enables laundry operators to set prices and view invoices. At the end of the month, the software automatically takes care of the accounting and produces clear documentation for the accountancy department.

The appWash RELAX is an extended service offered by appWash for no extra cost and provides a complete all-round service. This will range from the procurement of the machines and technical maintenance to complete outsourcing without any additional expenditure.

Both appWash services are fully integrated with leading payment providers such as PayPal, Apple Pay and credit card. This ensures that payment and refunds are handled quickly and smoothly.

“I’m extremely excited about the introduction of appWash to the UK market. It will bring cost-effective, digital solutions to communal laundry operators, while also providing greater convenience and best in class customer experience to end customers,” said Sam Bailey, director of Miele Professional GB (pictured).

“Our research has shown us that operators are demanding change to traditional managed laundry operations and appWash establishes a new standard in this sector, the whole process is so simple and efficient.”

After registering and downloading the app ‘appWash by Miele’, end customers will be able to use their smart devices to access the laundry room from any location, allowing them to make a cashless payment without needing to find small change. Once their laundry has finished, a push message will be sent immediately.

Frederik Wiedei, managing director of Miele Operations and Payment Solutions GmbH said: “appWash can be integrated with existing Miele machines via a connector box, so there is no need to purchase newer models. Alternatively, customers opting for appWash RELAX can choose to outsource their communal laundry to us. This means our commercial machines are installed free of charge within the laundry room, allowing the customer to concentrate purely on their core business.”

Miele’s appWash has been intensively tested and has been operating in laundry rooms for almost two years internationally, with more than 300,000 wash and dry cycles already processed.
