Onnera Laundry Barcelona (part of Mondragon Corporation), located in Sant Julia` de Vilatorta - Osona is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. It has organised a variety of events this year for the occasion, including a ceremony to be held 16 September at the Sant Julia` de Vilatorta factory, with Onnera Group and Mondragon Corporation management in attendance, along with several authorities, a wide range of institutions, customers and partners.
Established in Vic in 1922 under the name Talleres Roca, Onnera Laundry Barcelona was mainly created for manufacturing timber processing machinery. It would not be until 1949 that it began to form ties with the laundry industry thanks to the Domus brand, a manufacturing pioneer for industrial and domestic laundry machines which was revolutionary for the time.
Over the following decades Onnera Laundry Barcelona would continue to remain a family company, while it grew and evolved until the company today known as Onnera Group became a shareholder in 2001. This led its headquarters to be moved from Vic to Sant Julia` de Vilatorta in 2003, a major event for Tallers Roca as it went from being a workshop to a 7,000 m2 factory.
Today, Onnera Laundry Barcelona is a clear national and international industrial laundry leader. It has seen a major increase in manufacturing over recent years, which has led the company to upsize its facilities on two occasions and expand its staff, currently boasting 172 employees and a total surface area of 14,000 m2.
In terms of the near future, the words that best describe the company are Innovation and efficiency. This not only goes for its range of manufactured products, leading the field in technology and connectivity, but also in terms of us as a company.
Onnera Laundry is a highly socially and environmentally responsible company. With this in mind, it launched Onnera BCN ECO, a project promoting environmentally responsible actions, its Equality Plan is being established with training sessions underway, and this was also translated for becoming ISO 14001-certified for its environmental management system.
