Schulthess acquires majority stake in GMP, Italy

Swiss laundry equipment manufacturer Schulthess has acquired a majority holding in GMP SRL in Pieve di Soligo, Italy, as of 23 June. GMP is the leading manufacturer of ironing machines for flat linen in Europe. With this acquisition, Schulthess Maschinen AG is once again expanding its portfolio and strengthening its position as a washing technology expert in the international market.

Founded in 1987, GMP has been leading flatwork ironer innovation in Europe for the past 15 years, providing the widest range of ironing solutions to a global distributor network with well- established market positions in the commercial and industrial segments. The previous owner of GMP, Rudi Giaon, will remain CEO and partner of the company, which has 23 employees at its Pieve di Soligo site in the Veneto region of Italy.

According to a statement form Schulthess, with GMP flatwork ironers, Schulthess is further expanding its finishing range. GMP products ideally complement the Schulthess professional range: trade and industry thus benefit from a fully comprehensive offering – at a fair price and all from a single source.

With its more than 500 employees, Schulthess is strengthening its position through the acquisition of the Italian company and thus focusing on healthy growth. With its one-stop-shop strategy, the Swiss company aims to make sustainable, innovative laundry solutions available to a broad market. Customers benefit from premium products at the best price/performance ratio, reliable, readily available customer service, as well as many years of combined expertise in laundry technology.
