A reminder that textile care professionals are invited to a virtual meeting tonight, 23 March, produced jointly between the Guild of Cleaners and Launderers and the Worshipful Company of Launderers.
Rod Nutter, supported by Ian Yates and Chris Kingsford, from Richard Howarth, will present ‘Textiles for a Rental Operation’ and Paul Middleton, technical director, HeiQ, will inform delgates about the HeiQ Viroblock which is a post-wash coating for fabrics, that is said to be effective against the Covid-19 causing virus. Speaking about the possibilities of the HeiQ Viroblock development, Cupitt said: "Once applied this is also said to continue to be effective for at least 30 washes at 60C and up to five drycleans on wool by providing a self-sanitising and germ-resistant surface. This could give our industry an opportunity to add a further service and help to support the fight against the pandemic.”
The last session in February featured Richard Newton, who said positively "we will re-open", explained procedures, and gave valuable practical advice, for preserving your laundry during lockdown for a trouble-free resumption of service.

Cawood and Dr Richard Neale, both expert contributors to LCN, are now masterminding the magazine's What Went Wrong regular feature for drycleaners and wetcleaners which now includes a mini masterclass on a specific subject each month along with relevant case studies. In the February issue of LCN, out now, the duo tackle the problem of felting. In the March issue they will be looking at the problem of greying.
Cupitt reported on the seminar: “We did have a few technical hitches in the earlier part of the broadcast which took us a while to sort out, however in this recorded version we have this sorted out although in the presentations you will find that our guest speakers do refer to it.
