Kannegiesser (UK), the manufacturer of industrial laundry equipment, has successfully installed a new 200 bag capacity sorting and storage monorail system alongside a new ironer line in the Newcastle-upon-Tyne laundry of Fishers, a leading commercial laundry for the North East of England.
Kannegiesser supplied and installed its EMR Synchro Remote 4-Station Feeder with the HPM 3-Roll Gas Heated Ironer and SFM Folder capable of handling 800 mixed duvet covers, from single to super-king, per hour.
The monorail system has an initial capacity of 150 bags of laundry with 10 storage lines and 14 electronic weigh stations on the sorting platform, with the capacity to increase to 200 bags if required.
The installation followed a comprehensive tendering process held last year and took place between February and April 2019.
Fishers is part of K-Bro Linen Systems Inc., which has invested more than £20million per year building state-of-the-art laundries in Canada and, following its acquisition of Fishers in 2017, is now a major player in the UK commercial laundry and textile rental market.
Michael Jones, Fishers MD, said: “Kannegiesser has installed a soiled laundry sorting and rail system into a busy working plant, on-time, with minimal downtime and disruption. This is impressive given the significant amount of high-level working and steel structures required. Equally impressive is the output and productivity of the new ironer line where we are processing duvet covers at the same speed as we have traditionally ironed sheets.”
Sean Curtis, chief operating officer for K-Bro, added: “We are working with Fishers to be the best laundry operator in the UK, pursuing excellence through empowering great management with the best tools for the job. Full credit to Kannegiesser for managing a potentially difficult installation so well and for what they are demonstrating with the performance of their ironer line.”
Selwyn Burchhardt, sales manager at Kannegiesser, added: “The lead times for our new Supertrack system were challenging but we pulled out all the stops to have the system up and running for Easter as requested by Fishers. We have also impressed them with our innovative synchro remote feeding and the drying power of our stainless-steel bed ironer.
“The ironer line is showing processing capability of more than 800 duvet covers per hour and we now look forward to demonstrating the reliability of our equipment and support over the next few months.”
