Dryclean USA announces quarterly results

Dryclean USA, a leading distributor of industrial laundry, drycleaning machines and steam boilers, has reported a 19.9% fall in reported revenues for the three months ended September 30, 2007 (the first quarter of fiscal 2008). Revenues for the period were $4,736,644 compared with $5,912,198 for the same period the previous year.

3M expands PPE range with acquisition of Aearo Technologies

3M, a leader in personal protective equipment whose brands include Scotchgard, Thinsulate and Scotch-Brite, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Aearo Technologies Inc. for a total purchase price of $1.2billion. The deal will be financed through a combination of cash and other borrowings.

Management raises its stakes in Fishers Services

The management team at independent laundry and textile rental supplier Fishers Services has increased its share in the company from 30 to 80%. Under the new financial arrangements, the Bank of Scotland becomes the sole external finance provider to the group with a 19.99 % share, allowing the management team to obtain majority equity. The overall sale for the company stands at £40million, and means that in selling its stake CBPE has completed its investment term, having invested during the original MBO.

Defra advises on solvent directive enforcement

The Department of the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG)) have published additional guidelines to local authorities on enforcing compliance with the Solvent Emissions Directive (SED). The annual service and dinner of the Worshipful Company of Launderers took place on 5 November 2007. By permission of the Court, the location was changed this year from Southwark Cathedral to Bevis Marks Synagogue in the City of London. A record number of 186 Liverymen, Freemen and their guests attended the event.

Guild president receives Veterans badge

Former serviceman and the present national President of the Guild of Cleaners and Launderers and Master of the College of Fellows, Derek Harrison, was presented with the Veterans Badge by Barbara Keeley, MP for Worsley, on behalf of the Under Secretary of State for Defence.
