Operations Manager St Jude’s Laundry


       
Position:     Operations Manager

St Jude’s Laundry was founded in 1963 and is now a Shaw Trust Enterprise. It has held a Royal warrant for over 25 years as launderer to Her Majesty the Queen.

St Jude’s Laundry operates as a Supported Business providing employment opportunities for individuals with mental health conditions, physical disabilities of learning difficulties. Over 50% of our staff are supported employees.

As a result of our continued expansion we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager at our Edinburgh facility where we operate a modern purpose built commercial laundry.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Laundry and providing a safe and productive work environment for staff. The Operations Manager is also responsible for establishing an environment of uncompromising safety, implementing and completing continuous improvement projects and delivering cost management targets established by the General Manager and Board.

The Operations Manager works closely with production supervisors to ensure that processing quality, quantity and service meets St Jude’s standards.

You will be an experienced production manager who has already built up relevant knowledge within a laundry environment. You will be expected to manage the entire operation within our busy commercial laundry whilst delivering exceptional customer service.

We are looking for a Full time fully flexible experienced Dry Cleaning Operative Monday to Saturday.

We need a reliable person who can operate or tend washing or dry-cleaning machines to wash or dry-clean industrial or household articles, such as cloth garments, suede, leather, blankets, draperies, linens.

  • Examine and sort into lots articles to be cleaned, according to colour, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique required.
  • Inspect soiled articles to determine sources of stains, to locate colour imperfections, and to identify items requiring special treatment.
  • Press, iron and assemble all garments according to company standards.
  • Have excellent attention to detail - Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

  • Press, iron and assemble all garments according to company standards.

Position:     General Manager
Salary:     £65-£75,000 per annum

The General Manager will be responsible for the Hotel and Ferry operations at one of our commercial laundry sites based in Slough.

You will be responsible for a flatwork business that collects and delivers every day of the year, exceeding customer’s expectations for quality, on-time delivery and order fulfilment.

Leading a team of 100, including operatives, drivers, engineers and supervisors, you will ensure that the operation runs efficiently and complies with internal and external legislation in the areas of Health, Safety, Environmental, Transport, People Welfare and Security.

You shall have previous experience in a similar fastturnaround service industry and be able to demonstrate ability to establish effective customer relationships, deliver financial performance expectations and improve business processes.

The successful candidate is likely to be qualified to Level 4 or above; however, relevant achievement in a similar role will be considered.


       
Position:     Head Engineer
Salary:     £38-£42,000 per annum

The Head Engineer will be responsible for all plant & equipment maintenance on our 2 production sites based in Slough.

You will be responsible for the implementation of a planned preventative maintenance process; the scope of which will include continuous batch washers, large commercial ironers, folding and packing machines. In addition, you will oversee the facilities management of the buildings.

You will organise your engineers and external contractors to ensure that the plant and equipment is available to meet the demanding production schedule.

Previous experience in a similar lead role and qualified to Electrical Installations 17th edition is essential.
