ACI defends anti-bacterial products

10 January 2011

ACI said that in some cases those attacking such products had completely distorted the safety aspects and benefits.

“Antibacterial ingredients like triclosan have been reviewed, regulated and researched by agencies around the world for more than 40 years. They are globally accepted as safe for daily use,” said Brian Sansoni, ACI Vice President of Communication.

“These products and their ingredients are used daily in hospitals and healthcare establishments. They're used safely and effectively daily by workers in care centres and by food service providers in restaurants.

“Consumers should continue to be able to freely choose these products as they have for years.”
