Afonwen expands to South Wales with £5million-plus investment

The company has negotiated funding of over £5million from Bank of Scotland Corporate. It will also receive over £350,000 from the Welsh Assembly, and an undisclosed investment from the company's directors.

Kannegiesser has been chosen as Afonwen's strategic partner and and will supply all equipment and be jointly responsible for installation with specialist laundry installation engineers Clay & Abbot.

The plant will be state of the art and in line with Afonwen's commitment to the environment will include a water recovery system that allows to 70% of the water to be recycled.

Mark Wolfenden, Afonwen managing director, says he is delighted at these expansion plans, which represent the largest single investment in the company's history and are a natural progession in the company's development.
