Agreement points the way

1 December 1998

An exclusive Pan-European agreement between Farlane Johnson and Alliance Textiles (NZ) is said to be defining the future of the molten metal protective clothing market.

Farlane Johnson, a leading British manufacturer of specialist protective clothing, has joined together with Alliance Textiles to create a range of garments using Alliance Textiles’ specially developed Protek ™ wool based fabrics. Developed to end user specifications, the fabrics fully meet the requirements of European Standard EN 531 (1995).

Different metals require specific fabrics to maximise wearer protection, and it is the recognition of this that led to the development of Protek ™. With two weights for differing end uses, Farlane Johnson’s Protek ™ range addresses all the demands of wear protection and, for the first time, wearer comfort.

• Kevin Stewart has been appointed by Farlane Johnson to consolidate and develop business in the company’s main specialist sectors, including molten metal splash protection, flame resistant clothing and paintroom garments for the automotive industry. He will also launch and build business for current new product developments at the company.
