Albany to sell laundry busines

16 February 2005

Should the deal go ahead, Albany expects a number of employees to transfer to the new owners but says that there will be some redundancies. It is currently working with elected employee representatives, to ensure full consultation.

Mike Burton, owner and director of Albany Rental Supply, said the decision to sell the business had been a difficult one, but the market was a competitive one and this decision allows the laundry business to be sold while the company was performing well.

Albany now plans to diversify into sectors that would complement Albany's Washroom Services which form a big part of the business.

Selling to Johnson Apparelmaster will offer continuity to Albany's loyal customer base, he added.
