The laundry, which provides services to the hotel and restaurant sector, became operational earlier this year. It currently handles more than 20tons of linen per eight-hour day but has a planned capacity of 125tons.
A&M is a family run business that opened in the 1950s. General manager, Marc Broer represents the third generation. At Vottem, the family has built an energy-efficient laundry where steam is reduced to an absolute minimum - the laundry now has one small steam boiler. The installation was handled by Jensen, which supplied two Senking Universal P50-13 batch washers and ten Senking DT 60 dryers. The gas-heated ironers were supplied by Lapauw.
Bed linen and towels are washed in the gas-heated continuous batch washers using a low-temperature (60C) process developed by Christeyns, with table linen washed at higher temperatures in A&M's existing steam-heated batch washer.
