Both ABC and EFIT are affiliated to the Hohenstein Institutes in Germany and the partnership will create the largest affiliation of certified garment care providers in the world.
ABC certifies and educates drycleaners with the aim of promoting couture standard drycleaning in the USA. It has certified over 50 drycleaners who meet its strict and independent standards.
The FashionCare certification will be incorporated into the already stringent ABC certification as well as providing a stand-alone certification for drycleaners in both the USA and Canada.
EFIT, a federation of quality garment care specialists in Europe, now has members in most European countries, including France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Denmark and the Scandinavian countries. It also has members outside Europe, including some in Japan.
“Our organisation was impressed with the criteria promoted by America's Best Cleaners and we look forward to a long and beneficial relationship”; says Jasmin Qaud, EFIT’s marketing director. She adds that the decision to form a partnership with ABC, the USA’s premier certifying organisation was a logical move for EFIT.
EFIT’s FashionCare recently won a $10,000 public-relations grant from European textile care association CINET, which will organise PR support for FashionCare throughout 2010.
