Aquados powder in a pouch challenges detergent giants

7 January 2002

Aquados was founded by former Lever Bros engineer, Gerry Hinton and has Ged Maloney, formerly with Procter & Gamble, as its sales manager.

Aquados powder now has patents world wide and is available in both commercial and domestic formulations.

Just over a year ago, Aquados won a contract to supply McDonalds with washing powder for its 400 UK restaurants.

It has now signed a deal with JTM Service, of Stanningley near Leeds, which will market the product to commercial and industrial sectors south of the border. It will supply both trade dealers and end users such as NHS trusts, private nursing homes, hotels and guesthouses.

JTM, managing director, John Middleton is enthusiastic about the product. "Aquados is a winner because it uses the best quality of detergent and it combats all the problems that our commercial customers come up against such as pilfering and using too much or too little powder." He also adds that the dissolvable pouch avoids manual handling, helping compliance with heath and safety and COSHH regulations.

JTM has over 20 years supplying cleaning solutions to healthcare and hospitality sectors and is an appointed sales partner for Miele Professional.
