Boots’ staff get smart with Mr Clean

1 June 1999

Nottingham-based drycleaners Mr Clean has developed a novel self-service operation for workplace drycleaning.

The service has been introduced at the staff shop at Boots’ new Beeston headquarters.

At the heart of the operation is a deposit box, affectionately known as the lobster pot. Staff write their own tickets, put work and tickets into a bag and leave it in the box and Mr Clean collects the work daily. The transaction is cashless as payment is by company smart card.

Richard Abbott, Mr Clean’s sales and marketing manager, said that the service marked a new and innovative development in workplace drycleaning and one that would fit more closely with the lifestyles of company staff.

He believed it was the first system of its kind in the UK, and said that more were planned for the Nottingham area.
