Celtic Linen the Irish textile rental group, has halted falling summer production at its Carlow plant by installing a Breezair evaporative air-conditioning system to keep working temperatures comfortable.
The Breezair system is manufactured and marketed by Seeley International. It is designed to operate with doors and windows open, and provides sufficient cool air to overflow and prevent hot air entering a building. Fresh air is constantly drawn from outside, cooled and humidified, so, says the company, the potential "sick building" problem from constantly circulating air is avoided.
In the Celtic Linen application, after conducting a site survey, Seeley decided that the solution was to place six units on the laundry roof with vents placed at key positions throughout the plant.
This would both provide spot cooling where needed and reduce the overall temperature.
