British Standard set for healthcare cleaning

16 May 2011

PAS 5748 is said to be the first BSI-backed standard for healthcare cleaning and it results from a joint research and development programme by the Department of Health, BSI and AHCP. It will be a consensus-based specification for planning, measuring and improving cleaning services in NHS hospitals in England.

The standard will not be mandatory but hospitals can use it to provide evidence of good practice to the Care Quality Commission.
