Caterers Linen Supply wins inaugural ACE Sustains award

31 July 2013

The Caterers Linen Supply, a recently formed division of the London Linen Group, has won the corporate award in the inaugural ACE Sustains competition organised by the Association of Catering Excellence.

ACE introduced the competition this year to recognise companies in the food service sector that demonstrate an outstanding commitment and innovative approach to sustainability and corporate responsibility.

Catering Linen Supply, which operates a national hire service for table linen, chefs' wear and catering uniforms, gained the corporate award for initiatives throughout its organisation.

These included building the UK's first steamless laundry, a pledge to reduce linen miles and the introduction of the innovative EkoChef clothing, which is made from recycled plastic bottles and waste polyester fibres.

The award presentation took place on 17 July at The Crystal, Siemens' landmark global urban sustainability centre at Royal Victoria Docks.

Debbie Rosher, The Caterers Linen Supply marketing manager, said: "We use 70% less water than a standard laundry and the staff are all on board with our sustainable initiatives. We'll keep going and continue to look for innovations."
