Central Laundry, based in Burton-on-Trent, signed up to the British Armed Forces corporate covenant, a voluntary pledge showing a business's support for the forces, on Remembrance Day.
Director Helen McGuffie, signed on behalf of her company and was supported by Commander Rob Noble from HMS Sherwood.
In 2013, Central Laundry hired Chris Cotterill, a recent recruit to the Royal Navy Reserves, as an apprentice. During his employment the company has supported his career within the Reserves by working with him to support any time off he needs for training and attending events at his unit, HMS Sherwood.
The laundry works with the employer engagement team at West Midland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association to include a reservist policy within its employee handbook and HR policy in support of any future reservists the company might hire.
An independent, family owned business established in 1988, Central Laundry now employs 105 people and provides linen and laundry services to several sectors including departments within the Ministry of Defence.
