Chief executive’s run success

1 December 1998

Peter Cohen, chief executive of the PHS Group, successfully completed the Great Northern Run to raise £501 for Ty Hafan, the children’s hospice in Wales.

PHS Group is an active supporter of local charities and already has an established link with Ty Hafan, which is located in Barry, near Cardiff. So far, the company has raised over £5200 through a variety of events for the charity.

Mr Cohen made the donation at PHS Group’s headquarters in Caerphilly. Domonic Jenkins, chief executive of Ty Hafan received the cheque on the charity’s behalf.

A regular fitness runner since 1986, Mr Cohen travelled from his home in Colchester to South Shields to take part in the half marathon.

He completed the Great Northern Run, in a time of 1 hour 51 minutes, just short of his personal best of 1 hour 43 minutes.

He commented: “It’s great to combine the achievement of personal goals with helping local charities. I think it is time for senior management to lead by example when it comes to the company’s commitment to our community, but I will be taking a short rest before I take on my next physical challenge!”
