Christopher Beresford

16 February 2005

He started Lyndale with fellow managing director Roger Frankenburg in 1949. Together they built the business, which grew from a group of small domestic laundries and drycleaning shops into a textile rental group with seven plants.

Christopher Beresford retired from Lyndale after 35 years when the group was sold to Sunlight in 1984.

A member of the executive of the National Federation of Dyers and Cleaners in the 1960s, he became chairman of its public relations committee. From 1980 he was on the executive of the British Textile Rental Association and served for three years as treasurer.
