CLEAN launches its new “super” laundry

CLEAN, the independent linen and workwear rental services provider, has unveiled its new £15million super laundry in Berkshire. The state-of-the-art 42,000 sq. ft. site combines latest laundry technology with exceptional industry knowledge, and has been labelled ‘one of the most modern industrial laundries in the UK, if not the world’ by Kannegiesser, the German-based laundry machinery supplier.

The completion of the laundry was the culmination of 18 months of intense planning and management with more than 90 people on site at the peak of the build, including Kannegiesser engineers and a senior management team from Clean, led by CEO Jason Miller.

The concept of the super laundry was to create a custom-designed facility that supports and fulfils Clean’s mission of being the most efficient and reliable laundry service for the UK’s hospitality industry as they continue to explore new ways of innovating in order to exceed the expectations of its customers.

Miller said it was “another vital milestone in the development and growth of Clean, and a major step for the business following a well-documented year of success that saw the company’s turnover to increase significantly towards £80m.”

“We chose the location of the new laundry as the optimum position to service the thriving south east and London hotel market. With PWC predicting in its UK Hotels Forecast Report that London will see upwards of 7,200 new hotel rooms in 2017, adding to the 145,930 available in 2016, there is plenty of demand for reliable linen services. We have also mapped out smart delivery routes that incur minimal mileage, all helping to reduce delivery times and improve our fleet emissions.”

The addition of the site will allow Clean to produce and deliver more than 130,000 workwear items and 5 million linen items to its customers each week. The opening of the new laundry has also provided the local area with an employment boost creating in excess of 200 jobs, adding to its existing 1,400-strong workforce.
