CO2 emmissions fall

Government figures published on 13 May show that the UK is well on its way to meeting international commitments to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. Emissions of the ‘basket’ of six greenhouse gases fell by 9% between 1990 and 1997, demonstrating progress towards reaching the 12 1/2 per cent UK target in 2008-2012 under the Kyoto Protocol.
