Coin-op 2000

7 April 2000

The Coin-op 2000 exhibition not only shows the latest equipment but gives launderette and drycleaning operators the chance to keep abreast of the all the industry trends.

The show takes place on April 5 at the Royal National Hotel, Bedford Way, London WC1 and will include mini- seminars, organised by Lola.

Gas savings

On the equipment side, Armstrong Commercial Laundry Systems will show the latest Loadstar tumblers claimed to give up to 40 % gas savings.

JLA will show Ipso’s space-saving, micro-controlled X-series washers with high spin-speeds. Electrolux Laundry Systems will feature its Emerald washers. These have a range of programmes and offer a flexible system of charging that can be adjusted daily or even more frequently.

Several stands feature paypoint systems. Brookford (Retail) shows a computerised central system that increases the amount of statistical and financial data. This not only counts cash but also give details on machine use and controls the operation of shop equipment including doors, pumps, boilers, lights, and water softeners.

Smart cards

Smart card systems will be demonstrated by both Electrolux Laundry Systems and Muller Control Systems. Muller will also show its mini central pay points which offer a charging system that is economical to operate and has security built in.

S J T Stafford will focus on an advanced version of its launderette central payment point. This will now control up to 48 washers and dryers (including both electronic and electromechanical types) and will accommodate three sizes and price categories. Three coin validators allow greater reliability. The system also supplies increased amounts of audit information and this can be downloaded onto Psion Series 5 hand-held computers.

Businesses wanting advice and information on their running costs could take a look at the British Gas Trading stand. Gas and electricity standing charges are to be discontinued by May and the company is guaranteeing to hold prices until 2002 at least. Representatives will advise on the company’s flexible rolling agreement and on a two-year bottom-price contract for larger consumers. Visitors can also take along recent electricity bills for assessment. Other exhibitors will include Essex Coin-Op controls, G & R Spares Ltd, JAS Supplies, the Launderette Sales Agency, Alex Reid, and Scientific Sales.
