Detergent sector launches new trade body

20 April 2001

The UK Cleaning Products Industry Association (UKCPI) takes over from the Soap and Detergent Industry Association and will build on the SDIA's work. SDIA's director general Jan Lewis will take the same role in the new body.

She told LCN that the UKCPI would have a broader remit and reflect the wide range of cleaning products now available in the market, rather than concentrating on traditional soap-based products.

It will represent UK manufacturers and suppliers of cleaning, hygiene and surface-care products to both consumer and professional sectors.

Member companies include DiverseyLever, Henkel Ecolab, GWP, Johnson Wax Professional and Christeyns.

The association will be based at Haywards Heath, West Sussex, UK.
