DLI gathers drycleaning tips for Woman's Day

13 May 2010

A selection of these was published under the title 10 things your dry cleaner won’t tell you.

These included:

Stop trying to spot treat dryclean-only clothes,

Be honest about stains (even embarrassing ones such as vomit)

Beauty products can ruin your clothes

Always clean both pieces of a suit at the same time

Don't store clothes in drycleaners’ plastic bags

The article gave a positive view of drycleaning, explaining that drycleaners took a pride in their work and could help prolong the life of clothes, especially if in turn, the customers heeded drycleaners’ advice.

Several of the tips were printed with the drycleaner’s name and location giving welcome publicity for the business as well as helping the industry as a whole.

Woman’s Day is a monthly magazine with a circulation of nearly 4million.
