Drycleaner wins best small business award

27 June 2006

The firm, based at Milton Park, near Didcot, was started in 2002 by Stuart Tofts and Louise Rampe. It went through a difficult time when Rampe developed leukaemia and had to take 18 months away from the business. She is now back and taking an active role.

Speaking at the awards ceremony held at the Four Pillars Hotel, Sandford, on 19 June, Tofts said: "We have come through and now we are looking to push forward."

The Small Business award is sponsored by Milton Park and Oxford Brookes University Business School. The category is open to any business that employs less than 10 staff. The judges looked for evidence of profitable growth for the existing business; a written business plan with strategy and vision for the next 3-5 years; management with the ability to drive the business forward: and understanding the market and mechanisms to respond to change.
