The family-owned company has invested so that it can expand its health services business where currently clients include Blackrock Clinic, Beaumont Hospital and the Sports Surgery Clinic in Santry.

Robert McGovern, managing director of Kings Laundry, said the investment doubles the size of the company's existing premises.

''We've bought an adjacent building and spent Euro1 million on new equipment,” McGovern said. ''At the moment, our business is predominantly in hospitality, but the new plant will be for healthcare.”

In March, the company announced that it had been awarded a three-year contract worth Euro2.4m by the Moran Hotel Group to provide linen services to five Dublin hotels.
