These new qualifications, cover operations and service support in laundry and in drycleaning, each consisting of a series of mix and match modules and topics. They will be awarded by PAAN/Q-SET and assessed by a network of colleges and trainers. The eight signed to date are: Newham College in London, Bridgwater College, Birmingham City College, Newcastle College, Blackburn College, TTE Ltd in Cheshire, City College Liverpool, and Thomas Danby College Leeds.
Jamie Petrie, head of qualifications and standards at Skillfast UK, said that the laundry and drycleaning NVQs would be on the list of qualifications eligible for public funding so that employers would be able to get financial support to develop their staff.
