FCRA to unveil new benefits

The Fabric Care Research Association’s dedication to laundering and retail cleaning has been underlined by Chris Tebbs, the managing director of the organisation, which, in the autumn, is to unveil new benefits to members.

At the FCRA’s recently held annual general meeting, Mr Tebbs said: “I often read comments questioning whether the industry can sustain several technical associations.

“This is a generalisation which assumes that the industry has more than one technical association. This is not the case: the only truly industry-based association is the FCRA.”

He continued: “We are totally dedicated to the laundering and retail cleaning industry,” adding that the FCRA not only provided services but also strove to protect the future existence of businesses which might be threatened by legislation and regulation.

Mr Tebbs said all the assocation’s funds were directed to members’ interests.

“We intend to promote our members more, particularly with respect to driving customers in their direction,” he said. “We will look for all opportunities where it can benefit a member, and we intend to restrict that benefit so that non-members cannot have the same.

“A strong membership will provide a strong association which in turn will provide substantial benefits to its supporters.”

The board of the FCRA intends to launch some of the new benefits in October.

FCRA services to its members continue to remain at a very high level with its garment analysis service operating to full capacity, textile testing continuing to grow, laundering training courses covering a wide range of subject areas, quality audits conducted for drycleaning and laundering, and the maintenance of an active and fully utilised information service.
