Fire damages Dyfed Cleaning Services

21 April 2011

Dyfed Cleaning Services has issued a statement confirming that the fire caused extensive damage and that it has implemented a contingency plan. The company added that while there will be some short-term disruption, it is transferring all processing to its sister plant at Margam, Port Talbot. Drivers will make collections as usual.

The fire started at around 22.50 on 13 April and was eventually brought under control at 10 the following morning. Nobody was hurt but at the height of the fire, the local rail network had to cancel trains running to Milford as the track was near the site. Normal service was later resumed.

Dyfed Cleaning Services operates from two commercial laundries and operates five launderettes in the South Wales region. The business has developed from a group of independent laundries into one established commercial laundry covering South Wales and the west of England.

The company extended its coverage into the west of England from its factory at Port Talbot's Kenfig Industrial Estate in 2008. This development saw the company become a supplier to many hotels in the Newport and Bristol area.
