First multi-read RFID for laundry

4 May 2002

Switzerland: Datamars has developed a multi-read RFID system, claimed to be the first for the laundry sector.

The system, on show at the recent hospital linen manager's conference in Scarborough UK, has been installed at a major textile rental company. Here it will be used to scan sterile packs containing up to 16 items. In this application Guiseppe Vitale, Datamars area sales manager, told LCN it has virtually 100% accuracy. Even a demo with a bag of 100 loose chips scored accuracy higher than 98%. The system uses a new chip that is larger than standard, and a specially developed reader and antenae.

• Full report in a future LCN.
