Fishers bids for bigger share of food garment sector

26 November 2002

The initial cost of the project was £50,000, with an ongoing spend of £130,000 per year.

The drive for the food sector will be headed by commercial director, Tennant Hilditch, appointed earlier this year as part of the strategy.

Commenting on the company's plans, Mr Hilditch said: "This is a very exciting time to be a member of the Fishers' team.

"Our new food garment processing facilities are state of the art and will help us secure a bigger share of this sector." He added that the company's re-investment in facilities and staffing would play an important role in the strategy. Fishers' procedures are very transparent, providing peace of mind for customers and ensuring the company can meet and exceed the cleaning standard set down by auditors.

Fishers already serves a number of food processing companies and Walkers Shortbread is a key customer. Walkers' personnel manager Steve Milne expressed satisfaction with the service.

He pointed out that both companies were family businesses and added that they had a good relationship thanks to Fishers' flexible and responsive approach.
