Goodman Sparks restructures its retail operation

23 October 2008

The group will close one of its four launderettes in the city and put two others up for sale but retain the fourth. It will then concentrate on its core business of commercial laundry equipment sales, service and rentals.

Announcing the details on 8 October, managing director Jonathan Sparks said the group, which employs a total of 53 staff, would be transferring its Fulwood Road laundry operation to the larger branch at Ecclesall Road, and closing the Fulwood Road shop by the end of 2008.

The Meadowhead branch will be put up for sale as a going concern, alongside the Sharrow branch, which went on the market earlier in the year. Fulwood staff will be offered roles at other branches, and Meadowhead and Sharrow staff will transfer to new owners when sold.
